Now you've visited our squadron and want to become a Cadet! Fantastic! Here you will find step by step instructions on how to start your application. Haven't visited us? Here is how!

All new cadets are required to attend 3 meetings before the squadron commander can approve and submit the application to National Headquarters for processing.

New Cadet Online Application

Once your application has been submitted and approved, you will need to complete the following steps to get your start as a cadet of the Plano Mustangs Composite Squadron of Civil Air Patrol.

1. Sign Up and log in to Civil Air Patrol's e-Services

2. Complete the online course: OPSEC (Operational Security) (Must be logged in)

3. Complete the online course: Cadet Welcome Course (Must be logged in)

   • Go to AXIS -> "Cadet Achievement" tab -> Enroll in "Cadet Welcome Course"

4. Complete the online course: General Emergency Services (Must be logged in)

   • Go to AXIS -> "Course Catalog" tab -> Enroll in "CAPT 116 General ES"

5. Meet with the Deputy Commandant of Cadets or Squadron Commander to go over the Cadet Wingman Course.

6. Meet with a Cadet Officer, NCO, or Senior Member to review your training and to prepare you to take the Leadership 1 Test. Study material can be found here: Leadership Test 1 Study Material

7. Complete the online course: Leadership 1 (Must be logged in)

   • Go to AXIS -> "Cadet Achievement" tab -> Enroll in "Learn to Lead Interactive Module 1" or "Learn to Lead Test Module 1"
